the story behind the show
In 2018 I was introduced to the import side of the car world through a co-worker. After previously only being interested in Hot Rods any kind of vintage motorsports, I decided to attend Gridlife and experience drifting for the first time. A few months later I felt the creative itch to pick up a camera and start a new hobby in motorsports media. I grabbed my girlfriend and the camera she let me borrow and headed for Lanier to check out my first local drift event. Upon review of the pictures I took from the fence that night I was amazed at what I saw. “Holy shit I actually took that?” was the sparked that created my brand FREAK.
After getting my feet wet at every local drift event I could attend, you start to hear of the history and stories from years past. Upon learning how rich the history of drifting in Atlanta was, I found myself always wanting to know more. I grew up at Nostalgia Drag Racing events so the interest of the past has always been there. To learn there was a whole new sport growing up around me in Atlanta and I was completely blind to it blew my mind. As a creator of media - combined with the want to learn Atlanta drift history and the lack of current documentation - the idea to create a show or podcast was born.
After formulating the idea in my head for a year or so I told my friend, Tim Wallace, about it at a test day at AMP in 2021. Once I finished explaining my dumb little idea for another Youtube show and podcast, he surprised me with a very positive reaction. “There is your first guest right there!” He said as he points to Sammy Tiger. I knew I had to give it a shot after that. It took 2 more years of thinking to come up with a plan for design, marketing, guests, topics, and just finding the “look” I wanted for the show. I am now at the point of asking you, would you like to be a part of the “FREAK SHOW”?
